is known as Bloodstone because of its spots of red Jasper. Bloodstone used
to be called heliotrope (from helios - the sun). Superstition said that
that if it was thrown into water, bloodstone would turn the rays of the
sun red. Magic lore claimed that this stone when worn could render you invisible.
