The word metaphysical is defined by some as 'the philosophical study of being and knowing' or as 'a philosophy investigating principles of reality transcending those of science'. So it is no wonder that some New Agers have taken the word metaphysical to describe the gifts of clairvoyance and seership.

Some people giving readings use interpretation skills. For example an astrologer will give you an insight into your life and future by interpreting your horoscope and the positions of the stars and planets now and through your life.
