THE JACK NICHOLSON OF DOGS

I don't know whether my dog Patch is psychic or not but for some inexplicable reason he always seems to be able to locate his 'doggy friend' wherever she may be. I knew the dog's owner and we used to laugh a great deal every time he turned up at her house if he escaped. But a remarkable thing happened when my friend moved town. One day Patch escaped and although having no idea where my friend had moved to he turned up at her house!

My wife Jane's dog William is was expert burrower. One day a neighbour warned us that her pedigree poodle Twinkle was on heat and please, please could we make sure that William didn't get out. I saw William's ears pop up and I'm sure he knew what we were talking about. Obediently, I converted our back garden into a small but daunting doggy POW camp. He escaped. Embarrassed and desperate I managed to crawl through our neighbour's hedge to call him back before they came home. There was William laid next to Twinkle on the cushion and on his back with both legs in the air. William is an excruciatingly ugly Jack Russell- but when it comes to the women he's the Jack Nicholson of dogs.
