Animal Telepathy and Dreams

Do animals dream? Just like us animals sleep, dream and may even have psychic dreams. However, nature has devised sleep routines and their experience of sleep and dreams may be very different to our own. For example, a brown bat will sleep 19.9 hours a day whereas a giraffe sleeps only 1.9 hours. And the brain of a dolphin appears to sleep one hemisphere at a time!

Animals Dream

We can’t ask them of course but it is thought that animals also dream as they show REM activity and movement when sleeping. Watch your dog or cat sometime and you can tell it is dreaming of running as its eyes twitch and it may move its paws as if something is happening in the dream. Scientists think that most warm-blooded animals dream and that hunting animals like cats dogs and humans spend more time dreaming than animals that are hunted such as cattle, sheep, goats, and rabbits.

The opossum is the mammal that dreams the most (and snores a lot) whereas the spiny anteater echidna and platypus never dream. The platypus and the echidna have huge brains given their low intelligence and scientists speculate that they need this higher brain to IQ ratio, because they do not have dreams to aid in the learning process.

Telepathic Animals

Animal Telepathy – is this an ancient skill?

Animal Telepathy

It is not known whether animals have psychic dreams or whether they are more psychic than humans. They may have super-sensitive sight, smell, and hearing that make then aware when a person is coming home or if something like an earthquake is about to happen. For example, before the Agadir earthquake in Morocco in 1960, stray animals including dogs were seen streaming from the port before the shock that killed 15,000 people.

The animals had read the signs that there would be a quake. A similar phenomenon was observed three years later before the earthquake which reduced the city of Skopje, Yugoslavia, to rubble.

I have been sent many instances of psychic animals via my newspaper columns and website including fascinating examples of animals that know when their owner is coming home, can find their way home over great distances or will know when their owner is ill or upset. Today there are even psychics working who claim to be able to help calm maladjustment pets by using a combination of telepathy and spiritual healing. It would be reasonable to assume that animals have psychic dreams.

Dream of Dog

One interesting example was described by the English Novelist H. Rider Haggard who wrote King Solomon’s Mines’. In 1904 he dreamed he saw his daughter’s black retriever lying among brushwood by water. The animal, he wrote “transmitted to my mind in an undefined fashion the knowledge that it was dying.” The novelist described the dream to his wife when he awoke.

The next day the dog was missing and Haggard and others embarked on a search. The body of the dog was discovered floating against a weir just one mile from his home. Haggard believed that his dream had been a telepathic communication with the dying dog and he had communicated with him by “placing whatever part of my being is capable of receiving such impulses when enchained by sleep, into its own terrible place.”
