Ancient Guidance from the Rishis of India
For many years, I travelled to India in search of the ancient Naadi palm leaf oracles — mysterious manuscripts said to contain life guidance written long ago by enlightened Rishis.
The Naadi tradition has fascinated me for much of my life. It combines spirituality, karma, Vedic astrology, destiny and the possibility that great sages were able to see beyond ordinary time.
This page explains what the Naadi are, how I became involved with them, and why I believe they remain one of India’s most extraordinary spiritual traditions.
What Are Naadi Palm Leaves?
Naadi palm leaves are ancient Tamil manuscripts traditionally attributed to Indian sages known as Rishis. According to the tradition, these sages recorded guidance for future seekers whose destiny would one day lead them to their leaf.
The leaves are written in old Tamil and are preserved in specialist libraries and archives in India. They are read by trained Naadi readers who understand the ancient script and the traditional method of interpretation.
If a matching leaf is found, it may include details such as:
- Your name, or a close variation of it
- Your parents’ names
- Your birth details
- Important themes from your life
- Karmic patterns
- Spiritual guidance
- Suggested remedies, known as poojas
The Naadi system is linked to Vedic astrology, thumb impression classification and the belief that karma creates patterns that can be understood and transformed.
Is the Naadi a Prediction System?
The Naadi can include predictions, but I do not see it merely as a fortune-telling system.
At its deepest level, the Naadi is a spiritual guidance tradition. It may reveal karmic tendencies, life patterns, challenges and opportunities, but it also points towards transformation.
The purpose is not simply to know the future. It is to understand your path more deeply and, where possible, to take conscious action to improve your life.
For this reason, Naadi readings often include remedies such as prayer, mantra, charity, pilgrimage or poojas. These are intended to help clear obstacles and bring the seeker into better spiritual alignment.

My Personal Journey with the Naadi
My own search for the Naadi took me across India and became one of the most important spiritual adventures of my life.
I have written about these experiences in:
- Messages from the Universe
- Mystic Journey to India
- Be Happy
I also produced a film about my journeys, later released internationally, which explored my search for the Naadi and the wider spiritual traditions of India.
My own Naadi readings were deeply meaningful to me. I took considerable steps to ensure anonymity when I attended, and the details given about my life were, to me, astonishing. The experience changed the direction of my spiritual work and deepened my belief that destiny and free will are more subtle than we usually imagine.
However, each person’s experience is unique. A Naadi reading should be approached with an open mind, spiritual curiosity and personal discernment.
Why the Naadi Matters
The Naadi teachings suggest that life is not random. They point towards the idea that the soul has a purpose, karma has consequences, and spiritual effort can change the direction of our lives.
For me, this is one of the most important aspects of the Naadi tradition. It does not merely tell us what may happen. It asks us to become more conscious, more compassionate and more responsible for the way we live.
The Naadi reminds us that destiny is not fatalism. It is a pattern that can be understood, purified and transformed.
How to Get a Naadi Reading
I do not personally conduct Naadi palm leaf readings. However, I can introduce interested seekers to an independent third-party Naadi reading service that works online with Western clients.
